What Do I Need to Bring for New Colocation Orders?

For new single-server (1U or 4U) colocation customers, please be sure to include the following items in your delivery:

  • The server itself
  • Manufacturer/OEM rails*
  • A power cord or Y-splitter power cord if you have two power supplies

* We recommend using manufacturer/OEM rails instead of universal rails. Universal rails often extend below into the rack unit under your server, rendering it unusable. Because of this, we may have to charge an additional fee for servers racked using universal rails. Short-depth (pizza-box style) servers don't require rails, although we'd highly recommend using rails for all servers to avoid putting strain on rack ears.

For half or full cabinet colocation customers, you'll need to provide the following items:

  • Any servers you'd want racked as well as rails for those servers
  • An ethernet switch capable with the proper network uplink (RJ45/Copper for 1GbE and Multimode LC-terminated fiber for 10GbE)
  • A metered PDU with the proper locking NEMA connector (L5-20P for 120V 20A, L5-30P for 120V 30A, L6-20P for 208V 20A, L6-30P for 208V 30A)
  • Any accessories such as power cords, ethernet cables, rack mounting screws, or zip ties/hook and loop tape.
